About me

Welcome to Counselling in Brisbane

You may be here looking at this profile today because you feel like you're carrying too much, its become too heavy but you don't have tools or the space to put it down. Maybe there's something external in your life that is causing you stress or anxiety and you need to some support navigating it. Or like many of the clients I have worked with over the years, the struggle is internal. Memories or feelings that you are seeking to understand. My hope as a counsellor is to create a space for you, to put some of this down for a while. I tailor therapy to fit you, drawing from different approaches to meet your unique needs.

My approach

Hello there, I’m Iona

I’m a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association (MACA2). I offer individual counselling sessions for people aged 12 and above.

My approach is pluralistic, which means I work with each person’s individual needs and adapt sessions to suit what feels most helpful for them. Everyone is unique, and I believe counselling should reflect that.

Something I bring into every session is a safe, friendly, and accepting space where you can hopefully feel at ease enough to talk about what’s going on for you. My aim is to walk alongside you as you explore your thoughts, feelings, or experiences, helping you to understand yourself and your situation more fully.

Whatever is happening in your life, whether it’s something from the past, present, or future, I’ll be there with you as we make sense of it together.

I understand how surreal or even awkward starting counselling can feel at first, and I like to acknowledge that and ease into things gently. In the beginning, our sessions might feel more like a natural conversation as we build trust and find the best way to work together.

Sometimes I bring in creative activities or reflective exercises if that feels right for you. But above all, my aim is to offer a space where you can be open, feel heard, and begin to release some of what you’ve been carrying.
